The Royal School of Church Music

The RSCM is an educational charity dedicated to raising standards and promoting music in every style of Christian worship and every denomination. The RSCM now numbers over 11,000 members and affiliates world-wide. Members are offered support and guidance through local and national events and publications. Members are drawn from all denominations, worshipping in different ways with different styles of music. Their common belief is that Christian worship is enriched by good music, used effectively. Visit the main RSCM website for more information and to become a member/affiliate.

Manchester Area Committee

In Manchester we organise a programme of events for organists, choir trainers and singers of all ages and experience. Details of events this year will be published on our Events page. Although events normally incur a small charge, members receive regular mailings from the Area Secretary and also receive the quarterly mailing from the RSCM HQ in Salisbury. Members are also entitled to all the discounts available to affiliated members at RSCM Publishing (for music and books), and for National Courses and Conferences organised by the RSCM.

The RSCM Chorister Awards Scheme (formerly the Dean's & Bishop's Awards) is open to singers of all ages. Through this scheme many choristers have been encouraged and rewarded for their skill, talent and commitment. The recent launch of the Diocese of Manchester Chorister Loyalty Award provides choristers of all ages with the first stepping stone onto the Awards ladder. See the Awards page for details.

In addition, through the Diocesan Choristers' Fund, we have available some bursaries for RSCM courses or tuition. The Diocesan Organ Fund can provide a bursary to help with lessons in playing the Organ with an accredited tutor (click here for details).

Details of membership, the award schemes, our events, and bursaries or scholarships offered are either on the relevant pages of this site or available from the committee. Please contact us using the details on the Contacts page.
